Beyond the Pretty Face was founded by model, CEO, and entrepreneur Shelby Brown. As founder of Beyond the Pretty Face, Shelby has worked tirelessly to develop programs, workshops and initiatives that foster confidence, self-acceptance, and resilience.
Shelby has successfully created a global community that celebrates and encourages individuality, shattering societal norms, and empowers young girls and women to become change-makers.

who are we: My mother has always taught me that beauty goes beyond someone's physical attributes. More importantly, a person's outward beauty should not be the only asset she relies on. These inspiring life lessons led me to an immense amount of self-reflection about what my definition of beauty should be. With an awakened mindset, I decided to redefine the meaning of beauty for women of all ages; thus, "Beyond the Pretty Face" was created. Beyond the Pretty Face was founded by Shelby TO EMPOWER YOUNG WOMEN TO CREATE THEIR OWN DEFINITION OF BEAUTY AND TO PROVIDE YOUNG WOMEN WITH THE SKILLS TO DEVELOP CONFIDENCE, ENCOURAGe individuality, and shattering societal norms. She travels the globe, presenting workshops and motivational seminars.
OUR continued mission includes showing others how to look beyond physical attributes and stereotypes as a way to define beauty and, better yet, how to utilize self-evaluation as a source of empowerment! Society and pretty marketing campaigns should not define beauty; we should be doing that for ourselves, and I am doing that, one day at a time.
At Beyond The Pretty Face, we remain committed to our mission and dedicated to creating a brighter future for generations to come. Together, we've created a legacy that extends far beyond beauty and we're just getting started! We will continue to inspire, empower, and celebrate young girls, helping them unlock their full potential, embrace their authenticity, celebrate their differences, and become the change-makers of tomorrow.

WHy we do it
THE STORY
Shelby planted the seeds for Beyond the Pretty Face during her college years. Have you ever been told your face will get you far in life? Or should you just solely rely on your appearance? Or even that it must be nice to be pretty and get everything you want. Well, Shelby heard it all and more. She thought of "Beyond the Pretty Face" nine years ago when she was told, "Do you realize how pretty you are?" "I’m positive you get everything you want in life with that pretty face of yours. "If I were you, I would just rely on my beauty in life." "I'm sure that’s how you’ve gotten where you are in life and gained the success you have." Throughout Shelby's life, she has been told she has a pretty face, that she’s gorgeous, or that she's extremely stunning. Despite the flattery in these remarks, it has always disturbed Shelby that some people attribute her success to her outer beauty. People mistakenly believe that the things she has in life or how she has advanced in her career are because she holds herself to society's ideals of beauty. Incorrect.
In 2015, Shelby followed her heart, making "Beyond the Pretty Face" a reality. For women of all ages, she decided to create a movement/brand that would genuinely redefine what beauty is. Over the last eight years, she has been able to redefine and dispel the stigmas and misconceptions society has constructed about our beauty. Beyond the Pretty Face collaborates with organizations like the National ACHI Women Support Women Foundation, Women in Power Organization, schools all over the world, and numerous companies to empower women all over the globe. In 2022, we celebrated the 7-year anniversary of Beyond the Pretty Face and introduced the new brand ambassador program for state and international representatives.
